The Jacksonville Chapter of COMTO has built and maintained a strong reputation for preparing and serving the next transportation leaders in our community. The scholarship initiative is one of the avenues we like to do this. It is with your support, we can continue to prepare our future generation. 2023

On July 2023, COMTO Jacksonville awarded 9 deserving high school and college students of high academic achievement and involvement in the community with scholarships totaling $10,000. We are extremely proud of our scholarship recipients and excited for them as they journey into the upcoming school year and future career paths. With the support of our generous sponsors such as C&ES, Inc, JTA, Balfour Beatty, CSX and many others, we were afforded the opportunity to award the highest scholarship total and number in COMTO Jacksonville history. JACKSONVILLE CHAPTER AWARDED (4) SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

During these uncertain times COMTO Jacksonville is still doing some great things in the community.  Although we were unable to host our annual Bowl a Thon, the Jacksonville Chapter kept its promise of awarding scholarships to (4) deserving students. Please continue to support the Chapter so we can continue to support the community.

MEET THE COMTO JACKSONVILLE 2021 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

Jasmine Waters- $2500.00 Recipient
Jasmine Waters is a third year scholar from Jacksonville, Florida attending FAMU-FSU. Her major is Electrical Engineering. She is planning to work at Tesla Motors and help design and produce electrical vehicles. Her hope is to encourage and inspire other women of color to join the engineering field like learning of Katherine Johnson did for her.

Diondre Johnson – $2500.00 Recipient
Diondre Johnson is a senior at Mandarin High School. He has been accepted to Louisiana State University and his major will be Civil Engineering. Through his field of study, one of his goals is to create sustainable living that incorporates and partners with transportation, environmental and construction industries to aid individuals and families to secure financial freedom and save our ecosystem.

Diondre has given 100 plus hours volunteering in numerous organizations to include, White Harvest Farms and Ronald McDonald House to name a few. Diondre’s, mission is to be an example to his siblings and peers that you can rise above your circumstance to fulfill your dreams.

Craig Harper- $1000.00 Recipient
Craig Harper is a senior at Robert E. Lee High School. He has been accepted to FAMU where he plans on majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems. Through his field of study he wants to help expand the transportation industry by purchasing more options and making more places available to receive transportation.

Jonah Hodo- $1000.00 Recipient
Jonah Hodo is a sophomore at Florida State University and is majoring in Biological Sciences. Jonah is a product of military parents and was born in Germany.

National Scholarship Program

COMTO’s National Scholarship Program supports our strategic goal of ensuring the continuing legacy of minorities in transportation. COMTO awards $100,000 annually in national academic scholarships to minority graduate and undergraduate students from across the country. Scholarship awardees are represented in all academic backgrounds and pursuing various careers in the transportation industry.

COMTO Chapters collectively award close to $500,000 annually in academic scholarships to local applicants.
