The mission of COMTO is to ensure a level playing field and maximum participation in the transportation industry for minority individuals, businesses and communities of color through advocacy, information sharing, training, education and professional development.

 

 

COMTO Annual Bowl-a-thon

To support COMTO National Scholarship Fund, the chapter annually hosts a Bowl-a-thon fundraiser. Trophies, plaques, and various door prizes are given out at the event.


COMTO Golf Tournament

The COMTO Jacksonville Chapter holds a golf tournament to raise funds for the COMTO National Scholarship fund. The tournament has been held previously at golf courses such as, Mill Cove Golf Course and Deerfield Lakes Golf Course. Awards are given to the top scorers.

 

COMTO Week

In observation of the National COMTO Week the chapter hosts several DBE Meet-n-Greet events. DBE vendors and potential DBE's are invited to learn about the various opportunities available from our transportation and members affiliates.

 

Local Chapter Poster Contest
For the past two years, the Jacksonville Chapter has coordinated with transportation agencies to hold a local poster contest for 5th. graders. All local entries move on to the national poster contest. A formal poster unveiling is held during National Transportation Week and the winning student with his/her teacher is awarded gift cards. Their winning poster is displayed throughout buses, airports and transportation facilities.

 

Garrett A. Morgan (Shadow Day Program)

Annually, in observance on national Shadow Day week, the chapter invites 75 students from local high schools to spend the day learning about careers, scholarship and internship opportunities available in the transportation industry. Students spend the day talking with colleges and transportation vendors as well as engage in lunch workshops with selected guest speakers.

 

Toy Drive

In the spirit of giving, during the holiday season the COMTO Jacksonville Chapter hosts an annual "Santa on the Trolley" toy drive for the under-privileged children of the community. Santa, along with his elves and helpers give out bicycles and wrapped presents to 120 children from age 2 to 18.
